Scares, they carry our stories. Spreading them wherever we go. Be it good or bad, we live with them.
When people see you with a scar, they are quick to judge “You were a rough child, you played a lot, you were stubborn.”
“You’re a girl why have so many scars?” they always ask
These statements and question kills me over and over.
Growing up, I became conscious and tried my best to cover my scars.
I was tired of all the “oh my God what happened to you here?”
Some laughed, some pitied me.
Some just stared.🙄
I know it’s annoying and the fact that I didn’t get mine through those means they assumed I did, made things worse.

People forget the point that, being a girl doesn’t give me special privileges when it comes to injuries.
I’m not indestructible.
Growing up, I wasn’t really conscious of my scars because I was with my family and they knew the stories behind each scar.
But coming out and facing the world, I was questioned whenever my scars were visible. So to prevent the questions, I covered them.
Soon I became insecure.
It was better that way, if they don’t see it, they won’t ask.
Early this year, I was talking to one of my buddies about how close I am with my mum and how I miss her, one talk led to another and I showed her the scar on my shoulder.
I got it while playing with my mum, how she panicked and all.

It’s a really funny story.
She asked about the one on my face and I told her, we shared our fears and stories and then it dawned on me.
Why hide them?
Scars carry fun memories and maybe some sad ones but whichever way, I see them as lessons be it good or bad.
I’m not scared of showing my scars anymore.
My scars are what makes me who I am, they are part of my beauty and story.
We all have scars.
Visible or not, emotional or physical, we should learn from them and never be sad or let anyone make us feel bad about them.
Scars make us who we are.
Do you have scars?
Are you proud or insured of them?
Let me know in the comment section.
The goal is to be showing up once a week, and I’m glad I’m doing a great job at that.
I had a hell of a weekend, but I’m madly anticipating Monday (smiles in mischief)
What are your plans for the new week?
